The Purple Eye
Updated: Dec. 04, 7 p.m.
Smouldering at the south-east corner of Seagaard, this volcanic outcropping glows with a baleful violet light. During the day, puffs of black smoke and ominious creaks and cracking sounds issue from the small mountain’s tip. Some say that an enormous gemstone causes the strange colour of the light, but those who have ventured in search of it come down empty-handed, coughing and retching from the fumes upon the summit.
Too often, those treasure-seekers turn sick, their skin erupting in purple boils that bleed and ooze. Many die, and none of the locals will venture up the sides of the Purple Eye. What causes the strange light, and those deep groaning cries from within the earth, no one can say.
Some shaman and others of arcane interests come to Seagaard specifically to study the Purple Eye. They build huts on the lower slopes of the mountain and engage in their mystical studies. These sorts are tolerated by the local population, but watched carefully. All too often one who spends to much time considering the mysteries of this mountain go mad and are prone to murderous rampages. If there is a pattern to these attacks, no one in Seagaard has noticed one.
