Components in this Island
NPC
Impsala is a large island, center of one of the largest and most brutal native kingdoms among the islands. The Impsalans are known for the savage violence of their conquering armies, and it is rumoured that they practice human sacrifice and other obscene rituals.
Led by a conclave of priests known as The Dorogun, Impsalans are found throughout the islands, usually as agents for their ever-expanding kingdom. It’s fortunate that they are not particularly good sailors, or they might cause a lot more trouble than they already do.
Impsalans wear feathered headdresses and fight with spears and angry facial contortions. They build big pyramids in the jungles of their island and sail around in enormous junks they pack full of soldiers.
Amari
Owner: barsoomcore
Despite her appearance as a skinny thirteen-year-old, Amari is in fact a skilled and dangerous sorceress, able to command the terrible beasts of land, sea and sky.
She is often found sailing on the back of an enormous pterodactyl, or leading a stampede of thunder lizards against her enemies. Not content with these allies, she is usually accompanied by a few extremely large and short-tempered men with weapons, who do her imperious bidding without question or any thought of self-preservation.
She is fanatically devoted to the Impsalan destiny of world-ruling, and conversations with Amari tend to echo one another after a very short time. She often begins by demanding that non-Impsalans bow before her majesty, and things go downhill rapidly from there.
The Dorogun
Owner: barsoomcore
The secretive masters of the Impsalan nation wield more power than kings or captains, and yet remain a veiled mystery.
The Impsalan nation is devoted to ideas of augury and oracle, and the Dorogun command these powers to a high degree. Great temple complexes fill the Impsalan jungles where hooded priests conclave and through mysterious (and some say, foul and terrible) rites, gain knowledge of the future. Knowledge they use to further their already-powerful nation’s dominion over more and more islands.
The Dorogun form an entire second society within Impsalan society — while there are lords and courts amongst the Impsalans, all of these nobles and their followers are shadowed by an array of nameless priests whose every utterance carries the weight of prophecy.
Dorogun priests dress in sombre brown robes, dark and plain against the sort of finery that is common throughout Impsalan. Their hoods are always drawn, but no Impsalan would ever dare impersonate a Dorogun priest — such a blasphemy is beyond their ability to imagine. And rarely are the priests ever found beyond their dark jungle temples, so few non-Impsalans even know of their existence.
